Phil Volan and Joleen Bell play beautifully crafted originals and covers for mainly fingerstyle guitar and vocals with beautiful tight harmonies. They are wonderful to listen to in a concert setting, or in the background at a gathering. They use a state-of-the-art sound system that is appropriate and flexible for a wide range of settings.

In 2002, Phil earned 2nd place at the prestigious National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship in Winfield, Kansas. Joleen competed several years later as one of only two women to very enthusiastic listeners.

The Black Rose Newsletter music reviewer Stew Levitt describes Phil and Joleen's playing on they're instrumental CD of duets: "Starting with the opening harmonics of "Carousel," each guitar teases, withdraws and pursues each other like two children on an afternoon outing. This is acoustic guitar at its best."

Phil and Joleen are widely versatile and perform many different venues including concerts, conventions, festivals, churches, weddings, restaurants, and the always-loved house concert.

See Phil Volan Profile and Reviews and Publicity for more.

Joleen Bell, along with her angelic voice brings a highly developed fingerstyle guitar skill to the duo--often with a Celtic feel on many of her original songs. She adds a bouquet of harmony and supportive rhythm to the uniquely tight arrangements with Phil. In addition to acoustic  guitar, Joleen Bell plays several instruments including banjo and lap dulcimer. She has a B.A. in music from Naropa University, Boulder, CO. In addition to three  CDs with Phil, she has two solo CDs and one with Tom Simms.
